7 Resolutions For Entrepreneurs In 2017

Having resolutions for the new year is important. If you don’t know what you’re aiming at achieving in 2017, it’ll be extremely hard to hit your targets.

Entrepreneurs are typically frustrated when they don’t see their business growing or changing because they didn’t take the necessary amount of time to reflect on their past year to clearly map out what they want the incoming year to look like.

1. Get Really Good At Goal Setting, Like Really Good

Save the eye rolls.

Yes, as cliche as this may seem, goals are a fundamental component to any company wanting to move forward.

The reason why many people roll their eyes when they hear “goal setting” is because it has never produced any results for them.

That is typically because most people do not know how to goal set. Also, people get discouraged when they do not meet their goals.

  • Long-term goals: This is your 5-10 year plan. Think of this as your big picture, your destination you want your company to be at within this time frame.
  • Short-term goals: These are your everyday goals and compounded efforts that lead you towards your long-term goal. Think of it as your road markers indicating that you’re making progress towards your long-term destination.

2. Evaluate Everything Digital

It may seem like sweating the small stuff, but your digital presence is everything!

When is the last time you updated your website? Is it keeping up with the current trends?

Is your website mobile-friendly? Is it functioning properly? Is your app functioning properly?

These are all questions you can use as  a bases to improving your digital presence in 2017.

3. Focus On Your Team Culture

The key to sustaining long-term success is to invest in cultivating a great team.

In 2017, strive to have more team-building events, lunch potlucks, raffles and fun programs to unite your team.

4. Expand Your Leadership Skills

There is a difference between being a manager and being a leader.

Leaders inspire change, inspire trust and inspire individuality.

Managers accomplish tasks because of their level of position not because of their positive influence.

Be the leader your team needs.

5. Practicing Being Generous

Based on the book from Bob Burg and John David Mann, The Go-Giver, this impactful business idea has been adapted by many business owners who were close to shutting down their doors.

The concept of giving more in value than you give in payment is transformative.

Don’t help clients because you want to increase your revenue, help clients because you authentically want to make a difference in their life.

If you focus your energy on serving others and their needs, you by default will succeed in yours.

Customer service is an experience not a product or service.

6. Clearly Define Your Purpose

Many companies are in the pursuit of profit rather than fulfilling their purpose.

I believe that the moment your company really starts taking off is when you are in tune with your purpose.

When you truly discover why your company exists and what it truly has to offer to others, every action you take will align with your purpose.

7. Follow-Up With Clients

If you master anything this upcoming year, master being the best server you can be.

Follow-up with clients, old and new!

Make it a point to establish a personal connection with everyone.

Get to know your clients, what makes them happy and how you could provide a better experience for them.
